GAME PREP

No two broadcasters prepare exactly the same. Below are the spotting boards I use for several sports. I originally stole most of these charts from other broadcasters and evolved them to fit my style over time, so feel free to do likewise and use them as a starting point for your game prep.

Football

A pretty standard setup. I use four charts – one for each team's offense and defense – placed in a legal-sized binder.

Lacrosse

Attack, midfield, and defense grouped by lines with goalies at the bottom stapled to a legal-sized manila folder.

Basketball

Numerical lists with season stats and player information. Last-game starters are highlighted.

Hockey

Since lines can change drastically from game to game, I simply use a numerical list. Different colored highlighters distinguish the lines.
